Sunny South Wales?-Surely not

With the summer being as it has this year the coast has beckoned me weekend after weekend to explore the south coast as I never have before and finding - to my joy- the breathtaking views that we have here in good ol blighty.
You’d be forgiven for thinking you were stood on some foreign sun kissed coast rather than England but after seeing these sights for myself again and again I began to wonder what other hidden gems the Uk had.
As I had seen a lot of Devon and Cornwall I suddenly thought of the South Coast of Wales - in particular the Pembrokeshire coast.
Now at this point I need to point out that as well as never visiting this part of the world I had heard from work colleagues in the past that they were going away to South Wales for a family holiday and the inevitable caravan and I have to admit thought I’d rather stay at home than go there.
You see I envisioned a rocky grim coast with an equally grey grim sky and to be fair every time I have visited the black mountains it has depicted just that, grey, miserable and a low chance of seeing any clear and sunny skies so I assumed the coast would be no different, and yes, I was wrong.
I don’t know if it is just the weird weather we have had this year or if the South Wales Coast is like this all the time but I have seen some of the most epic beaches that I never would have thought existed in the UK and in a lot of cases the rough rugged mountainous landscape that Wales is so famous for meets up with the beach to provide some of the best trail running I’ve seen. Below is a fine example of one I did last week.
So I think what I’m trying to say is… Sorry Wales….I’m now a big fan and this trail runner will be back again and again.
